How to Get Good Sleep

Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for maintaining good health and well-being. However, many people struggle to get good sleep. Whether it’s due to stress, anxiety, or other factors, poor sleep can take a toll on both physical and mental health.

Greg Lindberg, wellness advocate, entrepreneur, philanthropist and author, shares recommendations on how you can get enough sleep every night.

“Sleep is important to your overall health and wellness,” says Lindberg. “Good sleep helps repair your mind and body and improves your overall function.”

But how do you do it? Below are some helpful tips you can easily implement into your sleep routine.

Establish a consistent sleep schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends, to help regulate your body’s internal clock.

Exercise regularly: Regular physical activity can help improve sleep quality, but avoid vigorous exercise close to bedtime.

Create a sleep-conducive environment: Keep your bedroom dark, quiet, and cool to create a comfortable and relaxing environment for sleep.

Limit exposure to digital devices: The blue light released by electronic devices can suppress melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep. Lindberg says turn off your digital device at least an hour before bed.

Relax before bed: Take some time to unwind and relax before going to bed. This can include activities such as reading, meditating or listening to calming music.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol: These substances can interfere with sleep, so it’s best to avoid them in the evening.

“These steps can help improve your sleep and help you feel more rejuvenated and be ready for the day,” says Lindberg. “Good sleep is essential for maintaining a strong mind and healthy body.”

Lindberg says that if you’re still having trouble sleeping, talk to your health care provider or sleep specialist. They can help identify any underlying issues that may be contributing to your sleep problems.
