June 22, 2023

Digital devices have significantly impacted every aspect of our lives. The technology has made communication faster and more convenient.

However, with benefits there are also drawbacks. Health experts have linked some negative health effects to excessive use of digital devices including its impact on eyesight, sleep and overall lifestyle.

Greg Lindberg, entrepreneur, philanthropist and author, provides some quick tips to help you minimize the use of digital devices and help improve overall health.

Set LimitsLindberg says set parameters on how much time you spend using digital devices each day. You can use applications that help you track your usage and set limits on how much time you spend on specific apps or websites.

Establish Boundaries. Create boundaries around your use of digital devices. “Make sure you avoid using your phone, iPad or laptop during meals, in bed, or during family time,” says Lindberg.

Engage in Activities: Staying active is critical to your health and wellness. Instead of scrolling on the phone, you can try reading, playing sports, exercising or engaging in creative activities like drawing or painting.

Disconnect: Take regular breaks from your digital devices. This will help you be present, connect with your friends and loved ones and engage in other activities. “During those breaks, you can take a walk, spend time in nature, or do meditation or yoga,” says Lindberg. “These activities help you stay active and be healthy.”

Create a technology-free environment. Create a technology-free environment in your home or workspace. While it can be challenging, you could designate a specific area where digital devices are not allowed.

These are some quick and easy-to-implement steps that can help you minimize your use of digital devices and improve your overall well-being. It’s always important to find a balance that works for you, so you can still enjoy the benefits of digital devices without becoming too reliant on them.
